Swift Roofing proudly supports First Steps Himalaya in association with Court Construction.
Swift Roofing contributed towards Court Construction’s 2023 fundraiser where over $76,000 was raised ahead of the team heading off to Nepal to work with their Charity Partner First Steps Himalaya (FSH) for the 5th time. Their 2023 project is a new earthbag constructed school in Nuwakot, a remote region desperate for more educational facilities.
Court Construction has been supporting First Steps Himalaya since 2015. Children in Nepal are receiving sub-standard education in dilapidated classrooms from untrained teachers. This leaves them with limited life skills, vulnerable to exploitation and very likely to be stuck in a cycle of poverty and limited opportunities.
FSH are working hard to break that cycle, and empower these children to change their future with the skills they gain through quality education.
You can help too, by donating towards training great teachers and fillng the classes with much needed resources.
$25 buy an earthbag for a build
$50 pays for art materials such as crayons, paint & coloured paper for a class
$100 funds the salary of one teacher for a month
$250 allows a teacher to attend a week-long teacher training workshop
100% of all donations go directly to supporting children in Nepal. FSH is a registered NZ Charity and your donation is tax deductible. FSH appreciates any donation, of any size, because every dollar counts!

Short video below about earthbag building technique:
Earthbag building is well suited to community projects because they can be built simply, quickly and economically using local, natural materials. Earthbag building is also known for it’s earthquake resilience, and since the devastating quakes of 2015 this method has been adopted by both local Nepali people and a wide range of aid organisations.
