A little about the trip from Maia herself:
l am going on a trip to Japan with the Hokianga Storms Rugby League Team. This trip is to go over and play 7s, exchange and experience new cultures and to reconnect with our Whakapapa. It also gives us an opportunity to travel and have new opportunities.

We will be heading to China for the first few days, where we will visit the New Zealand Embassy and do tours of major places like the Great Wall of China and the Temple of Heaven. From there we will head to Japan, where we will spend several days. We will first stay at Grace University. There we will spend a day learning about the school with the opposition team before playing against them the following day. We then head off to the Olympic Village in Tokyo, where we will spend our last few days touring the city before heading home.

This year I have participated in various teams, such as our Westlake girls Premier Team, where we won the North Harbour Champs, and then went on to play North Harbour U18s where we came first equal. I have also been part of the Richmond Roses U18 Club Team and participated in the Hokianga Storm Rugby League team where we came second at the Maori League Tournament.
During this trip I would like to gain more experience in independence and leadership.
